(Why yes, there is a purple pony fiddling with her communicator; it's so weird and why isn't it so accommodating to those who have hooves? Stupid device...

...oh well; at least she figures out how to get it started. Not having magic sucks...)

There's a lot that has to be accounted for here, but I can't be the only one stuck here, right? The note mentioned living near "The White Rabbit" and "Pinga..."

...which brings me to my next question: Merlin? I've never heard of him before, but how is it I suddenly know everything about him? He sounds a lot like Star Swirl the Bearded, but none of this makes sense! And my horn is missing! I don't see the purpose of making me fill in for a wizard if I don't even have my magic with me...

Merlin?

[ This little girl gasps in pure excitement. While she doesn't know much about fairy tales and this strange world, she knows about Merlin. Every magic user just has to know about him. ]

According to that note I found, I'm supposed to be Merlin, so...technically, yes. But in this case, he's a she.

(What is this "human" that you speak of? Is that this person that is talking to her? This doesn't make any sense.)

Apparently, Merlin's some sort of powerful wizard who helped Arthur become king. Sure I'm great with magic, but I don't know if it's up to this caliber...

Wha-? [ That cuts the excitement short as the girl blinks at the device. After all, she must get a better look at Merlin to discover: ] You're a horse!?

[ Pointing out the obvious. It's a Tohsaka thing. ]

[As long as they're both equally confused by each others' appearance, then~]

I don't know who Arthur is, either.

[Other than that he is apparently some king. Hajime still looks like there is part of this conversation he is just not following. Someone's unfamiliarity with human literary traditions is coming back to bite him hard.]

I'm not. Magic's my specialty, but without my horn, I can't exactly demonstrate.

Sounds like you had more information to work with than I did...I had to get most of my story off of someone over this communicator thing. This place seems to be under the impression that I am The Beast from some story...

And so now he's talking to a magical unicorn over a little pink compact after being taken to some other world against his will, and...good grief, just when he thought his life couldn't possibly be any weirder.]

Merlin is a powerful wizard from British mythology. He helped King Arthur and his knights.

Would you happen to know just how powerful he is? I don't think I can live up to anyone this legendary...

I don't really know. I can't say I paid much attention to the Arthur legend. Though considering the knights still had such a big part he probably couldn't exactly change the world with moving his hand...

... but it doesn't really matter. Nobody expects you to be accurately like your denizen.

Supposedly the story's about some prince cursed into becoming a beast so he can learn how to love and be loved for what he is on the inside. It's...stupid.

[Love? What is love? Discussing that story just makes him uncomfortable.]

...and you're probably tired of hearing me say this, but I don't know who that is, either. I haven't been here very long myself.

As others have explained, he was a powerful wizard who tutored and then later assisted the king.

However, the reports of his wisdom are exaggerated at best. He was learned, certainly. However, he was quite an obnoxious person, prone to pranks which caused a great deal of mischief.

It is probably best that you not mimic him.
