(Why yes, there is a purple pony fiddling with her communicator; it's so weird and why isn't it so accommodating to those who have hooves? Stupid device...

There's a lot that has to be accounted for here, but I can't be the only one stuck here, right? The note mentioned living near "The White Rabbit" and "Pinga..."

...which brings me to my next question: Merlin? I've never heard of him before, but how is it I suddenly know everything about him? He sounds a lot like Star Swirl the Bearded, but none of this makes sense! And my horn is missing! I don't see the purpose of making me fill in for a wizard if I don't even have my magic with me...

I don't really know. I can't say I paid much attention to the Arthur legend. Though considering the knights still had such a big part he probably couldn't exactly change the world with moving his hand...

... but it doesn't really matter. Nobody expects you to be accurately like your denizen.

Because they really need someone to fill the place. I don't know why we are chosen to represent specific people, but this place apparently needs these roles. We have to keep up what the real denizens left behind.

And they kind of change us to fit the roles, too. I'm not usually this tall [ Actually, she's still small. But not mindbreakingly so. ] for example. But we can get our own traits back, it seems. I got back my normal hair lately and an object from home, too.
That sounds.. really crazy and a bit terrifying, I suppose.

So what would someone have to do to get their things back?

See, the only time I got something back has been after a punishment for an escape try. I can't really make sense of that really.

I fail to see the logic in that. It honestly makes me think the rulers have some kind of mental disorder. You know, the kind that makes you desperate to medically care for another all of the time, even if the injuries have to be forced.

(Well, she's really smart, too! That counts, right?)

Hmh... I haven't thought about that yet, but it almost makes sense. It's just that I tend to think of Arcanarum as a kind of big machine. And we're the gear wheels to keep it going.
Maybe they want to try the 'carrot and a stick' tactic to get us to stay here and keep it running smoothly?

I'd say that we're not rabbits and not to treat us as such, but considering I live with "The White Rabbit," that idea's pretty much null and void.

They don't really feel like listening to our complaints either way....

Then they don't make very good rulers unless they're aiming to be tyrants. Even then, there's probably some way they could one-up themselves.

You may be right about that. What concerns me is how tyrannical they can be...

That's indeed worrisome. Up to now they haven't made it all the way up the ladder of fully insane horrible rulers, but they're not exactly lowest step either...

Which makes me think they can and will make "improvements" along the way, however unwelcome they may be.

Yes; it'll definitely be easier to stop them once we figure out how their powers work and how to work around them. I can try researching them if this place has a library, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't leave such valuable information in such an obvious place.

Yes, it has proven pretty hard to get any information in the past... I tried writing most of it down and working with it, but it's difficult.

Exactly! It's fundamental for teammates to cover each other's weaknesses, so we should definitely be alright.

(Totally understandable, man. Some things just take priority over other things and while figuring out this place is important, adorable talking pony is a lot more eye-catching...)
