shot 008 || [Dream]
[It is a hot Italian summer afternoon, the sky a deep shades of red and orange as dusk approaches. G lay in bed, his bedroom humble and lacking anything unneeded for the very basics of survival. His entire 'house' consisted of only three rooms, and there were no glass windows, only battered wooden shutters. However, these meager living conditions were the only thing putting G at ease.
He closed his eyes for a moment, wincing and letting out a pained groan. His head throbbed with an agonizing migraine, his stomach lurched and cramped, his body felt stiff, exhausted, and numb, and beyond the pain his thoughts were just so very far away. He knew all to well what was going to happen. It was not easy to forget what his last hours were like.
He stared vacantly at the wall, waiting to once again drift off into the nap he wouldn't wake up from. His family was gone. Scattered. Being hunted down, and he could do nothing but lay in bed, powerless to stop it. The solitude of his home that was once such a blessing to him now felt like a prison. Why could his death not simply come sooner? It was inevitable...]

Number 1 priority was G, naturally. Spotting his dream she pretty much dragged Spade with her to get him out. Not dragged maybe, but very persistently insisted.
Stepping into the room she looked at the man on the bed. He looked really horrible right now. ]
....G...

[The house was familiar enough, and it didn't take much to recognize G's condition; he knew G'd been avoiding people and being far less aggressive than usual before his death, and had gotten enough to clues to know he was sick, but...]
[Well, this at least explained where he'd gone after their scuffle.]
[He stayed close behind Madoka; right now the best bet seemed to be to see if she'd be enough to snap him out of it. Well, that and his presence somewhere he shouldn't be.]

The only thing that made it clear he was conscious was the brief wince and groan at the pressure he felt in his head. He wasn't one to show much in regards to being in pain, but damn he'd rather go into one of his shaking fits than this. Why was it taking so long for him to die?]

...G?
[ She wished she could do something to ease whatever he was going through, but it was just an illusion anyway. So she needed to wake him like Spade had done for her. Right? With shaky fingers Madoka reached out and took his hand into both of hers. ]
Can you hear me?

Mado...ka?
[He winced again... real or not... he didn't want to have anyone see him like this. It was why he had pulled away so. The last memories he wanted people to have of him, was him at his best... or at least able to pretend he was still at his best. So he forced a small smile on his face, he knew he wasn't fooling anyone, but if it could put her somewhat at ease...]
Kiddo... you shouldn't... be here...

I should be right here... I'm here to get you out of this.
[ Her grip on his hand tightened. They'd go home all together. Even though home was pretty relative, being on Arcanarum and all, but she was willing to accept it for now. She just wanted to go back to their house and have diner with them. Just like it was supposed to be. ]

Ain't no gettin' outta this... for me.
[He hated to have to hit her with the news, she was a sweet kid with such a bright outlook on everything, but facts were facts. He was going to die... and at this point he was alright with it. He had already lost everything anyway. He didn't even have a reason to fight to keep himself alive.]
I'm goin'... t'die kiddo.
no subject
No... No, you're not. Not again.
[ She didn't think she'd be saying this to someone sometime, but there was a first for everything, it seemed. ]
Think, G. When we met... You told me you already were dead. So how could this possibly happen to you again? This isn't what it seems. You followin'?!
no subject
[He leaned back and closed his eyes to let out a sigh.]
Lost my boss, lost my family, lost everythin' I spent my life workin' for. Sometimes... it's just best to let an old dog die.
[Whether he was lightly implying some awareness of the situation or not, he'd let the girl figure it out. Either way, he was tired. Of everything. Though it was nice to at least have someone by his side while he died this time.]
no subject
And now you're ... giving up? Just like that?
[ That wasn't right. He deserved a second chance. He deserved to be happy and not to die like this. ]
I'm sorry, but I can't let you. B-because we're going home together...

You're in an illusion, G. Everyone was split up and trapped. None of this is real.
[His tone was blunt, but at least less confrontational than usual; maybe making G aware of his presence would be a jolt - after all, he hadn't checked the house after that fight, and had never been there for this.]
[And G would have the benefit, at least, of knowing that Spade was, himself, an illusionist - and whether he blamed Spade or not, it'd bring that possibility to mind as more than just something Spade had said.]
no subject
Well, well, look who it is. You hear to finish the job? Or just rub all this in my face?
[He pauses to breath again.]
Still sore... about earlier? Go ahead you sunnuva bitch. You already destroyed everything else. Either finish what you started or piss off so I don't have to carry the image of your ugly much with me when I go back in the ring.

So she kept her mouth shut, not leaving G's side and looked back and forth between the two of them ]

[Well, he could only push so many buttons with Madoka in earshot, but...]
G, whatever else might be going on, I think the both of us have something a little more important to worry about than keeping up the feud.
Or are you really in such a hurry to relive your death that you're going to give up and let some other illusionist kick you around? I admit, I'm flattered that you'd trust me to look after Madoka and Ugetsu in your absence, but I'll be disappointed if this is all it takes after everything you managed to get out of.

Again he closed his eyes and let out a sigh, "I'm tired.. No way to move forward... Family's broken and gone... I got nothin' to go back to. So if you're not going to finish me off like you did the others then piss off and let me die in peace before I get my gun and make you."
no subject
And what was that about taking care of? That wasn't right! Madoka didn't want Ugetsu to take care of her... and to be fair she also didn't want Spade or even G to. Instead Madoka felt responsible for all of them. She was just a kid, but she was used to looking after people.
Against her will more tears entered her eyes. She didn't want to cry, not now, but what G said was just so... so... sad. Angrily she blinked those tears away.
"... that's... silly, G. You're not thinking this through! Nowhere to move forward to?! But you've been given a second chance! And you're just... just letting it end all the same again?! This isn't even real, this is a fake... You wouldn't just give in to such a fake... This is a dream! You don't even know if you would die! Do you think they'd let you? Do you... do you really want to let them all win like this?"
This wasn't a beybattle, this wasn't anything she knew, but...
"I believe in you!"
... the support of friends could make you win. It was impossible to lose a battle when there were friends backing you up, so.. so..
"... you followin'?"
no subject
Well, without resorting to some VERY unpleasant button-pushing. If it worked, it'd make all of their lives easier...
If not, this was going to end up an incredibly delicate and messy situation.

"Come on now, cryin' over a dead man dyin' is no different than beatin' a dead horse." He gave her a small smile, but it was a tired smile. A smile of someone who had grown weary with the burdens he carried and was more than ready to just give them up, "I already had my shot at life Madoka. I've been around... saw some old friends... but they're gone now, and I'm tired. I'm ready to go back to my ring. I at least had a purpose sealed in there..."
G's gaze turned to Spade, and again grew harsh. The only thing he wished for strength to do now was reach for his gun and shoot that bastard right in the face.
"Jackass... are you goin' to finish me or not?" He tried to push himself into an upright position, but the moment he did a wave of vertigo hit him and he slipped back onto the bed, panting and gasping for breath. For a moment his eyes start to roll back, and his hand started twitching awkwardly. He tensed up and sweat coated his brow... he was completely unresponsive for a minute of so, but eventually he calmed down. His eyes came back into focus, he was dazed, but that always happened after he had a fit. That one was a mild one in comparison to some of the others. Still, it would take a moment for him to pull out of the fog completely.
"M'so tired..." He turned his head over to Madoka, "Where's... where's Giotto?"

G was important to her, a precious friend, something like family, here at this strange place... There wasn't a way she could stop her feelings just because he was 'dead'.
The way he said it only made it sound a lot more sad. Madoka bit her lip. Not crying, not crying...
As G collapsed back on the bed, she felt herself panicking. She knew basic first aid, but this wouldn't help her here, she wouldn't--- He would...
When he woke up, she was glad, but the question.. Should she answer truthfully?
"I... I don't know.."
It was the truth, at least. She didn't. And she didn't want to say anything more, because she was afraid what it would do to G.
