Has anyone felt unusual lately? Changed their minds on any subject, or had wide swings in mood that are not typical of them. Or, if you've observed this behavior in others, you may mention that as well.

That'd imply you can imagine anything about the way they think. Honestly, all of this just seems pointless altogether.

So what kind of suggestions do you have as to what that point is?

Perhaps the land dies without residents, or perhaps their own strength is based off of their control of denizens. Perhaps out there in other worlds stories disappear without someone to base them off of, and their concern is for the children who will have nothing to be told at bedtime.

... Okay, those first two sounded pretty okay, but the last one is just ridiculous. I'm not going to sacrifice my personality for some kids who can't sleep without a bedtime story.

If it really ends up being the reason, I'm going to make sure to punch them in the face twice as hard once the time comes that we'll be able to do that.
