DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET CLOTHES FOR CHEAP?

OR BETTER YET, FREE?

[After sending this, Darius decides he may as well go and look for something on his own, just in case no one offers their help. He's getting a little tired of only having (what look to him like) dresses to wear. He really just wants some pants.

He does take a cloak, though, since it's raining, and straps some sandals to his feet before heading out in search of...well, anything that looks familiar, really.]

[ Minato goes ahead and uses video because he doesn't really like texting on the mirrors, when it gets down to it. So hopefully Darius, if he happens to look at the mirror when the voice pipes up, doesn't mind a linefacey blue-haired Japanese teenager with large dark wings gazing through the compact. ]

A few of us run a tailoring business and will be happy to make clothing for you in exchange for favors or whatever you can trade. There's also a clothing shop run by the natives of this island, but I wouldn't recommend going there unless you like the sort of clothing you showed up in, because that's all they'll sell you.

[The first person Darius met here was a pony, so the wings don't get a second glance. And the hair is actually pretty mild for what he's seen in the Capitol. He ducks into a doorway to answer, though his response is typed. Video is...complicated for him.]

YEAH, I DEFINITELY NEED SOME PANTS. WHERE'S YOUR BUSINESS?

[ Unlike the Capitol weird hair, though, this stuff is natural. But either way, he doesn't mind other people typing, so long as he doesn't have to. If the mirrors had buttons and keys he could press, that would be one thing, but ever since he spent a while with claws, he's not much cared for how the mirrors work. ]

We have been running it out of the sixth house in the blue district, but you could also come to my house, which is the fourth one in the blue district, and I could measure you, at least, and we'd let you know when your clothes were ready for pick up.

[ Minato isn't sure, after all, if France, Rarity or Sophie are in at the moment... ]

[He thinks for a moment before responding.]

I THINK I CAN FIND THAT. WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER?

It may be best if you come to my house for now. ... do you drink tea or coffee?

[ If he's going to have a guest, given the rain and the chill, it's probably best to have something warm to drink for him... ]

YEAH, THANKS. EITHER ONE IS FINE.

[He'll definitely appreciate the warm drink by the time he gets there.]

All right. I'll see you soon.

[ And with that, Minato will close his compact while he puts some water to boil for tea and fishes out his sewing supplies and tape measure, as well as a notebook to write these things down in. It's more professional to be prepared.

[Darius manages to find his way there without too much trouble, though he's a little damp by the time he gets there, even with his cloak on. He has no idea how this Orpheus guy managed dressed like this all the time.

When he makes it to what he's pretty sure is the right house, he knocks lightly on the door.]

[ By the time Darius gets there, Minato's gathered his things, and on hearing the knock, he grabs the towel he pulled out of the bathroom and goes to the door. ]

Please, come on in.

[ He speaks once he opens the door and holds out a towel for Darius. If the man is particularly observant, he might notice that there are shoes arranged by the door as well as a couple pairs of slippers. He's free to put on a pair, if they fit, though if he doesn't bother with all this, Minato won't get mad. It's what towels and things are for.

For his part, Minato is dressed -- totally normally for the modern era. Jeans, and a t-shirt, though it's been modified to accommodate his wings with a flap to go between them that buttons to the rest of the shirt above them, since they're a little big to just shove through holes without tearing them. ]

[Darius takes the towel with a smile, nodding in thanks. Looking around the room as he towels his unruly curls, he spots the shoes. He gestures to them and then to his own shoes with a questioning look, attempting to ask if he should take his own off.]

[ Minato nods in response. Hurrah - someone who ~~wasn't a heathen!~~ picked up on this! Not everyone did... ]

Ah - feel free to use a pair of slippers if you are cold... I have tea at the table.

[He smiles in thanks and crouches to unlace his sandals and set them aside. He also towels off his feet, which had gotten a little muddy on the way over, before pulling on a pair of slippers.]

[ Minato nods in return - it's just common courtesy- and then leads the way into the kitchen, where he pours a cup of tea. ]

Sugar or milk?

[Darius follows him and nods in answer to the question, pointing to the sugar.]

[ So Minato brings a bowl of sugar and a spoon over so Darius can add as much or as little as he likes. And then he pour his own cup of tea. ]

Once you're warmed up, I'll do the measurements. Please let me know what your preferences are for fabric and so forth.

[ He's noticed that Darius doesn't seem to speak aloud, though whether that's by choice or the man is mute Minato has no idea. Either way, it doesn't matter to him, and he pushes a notepad and pen over. ]

Feel free to write whatever you'd like down, and I'll do my best to accommodate you.

[Darius accepts the sugar with a smile, adding some to his tea and taking a sip. He isn't really sure what he wants. Just something...normal. He takes the pad and pen and thinks a moment before writing]

[ Minato peers over at the list and nods, pondering. ]

It's getting colder steadily, so do you want a sweater or coat or anything like that? And... any color preferences?

[He nods at that, thinking for a moment about color. He doesn't care too much, but after a moment, he scribbles]

NOT WHITE.

So hot pink, then.

[ He says this completely deadpan and without a change in expression, as he watches Darius for a reaction. ]

[Darius arches an eyebrow. It's not that he'd mind hot pink particularly, but...

He takes hold of one very red curl and gives a questioning look along the lines of, 'Wouldn't that clash with my hair?']

Hm, you're right. [ Luckily the look makes it pretty apparent what Darius means. Which is why Minato makes and even more hideous suggestion. ] Neon green, then.

[Darius grins, shrugging.

It isn't white, and that's the most important thing. If this guy really wants to make him something in neon green, that's his choice.]

[ Minato wants to dress him like Christmas! ... okay not really. ]

I'll do my best to make them acceptable.

[ He pauses to take a sip or two of his tea. ]

Just let me know when you're done with your tea, and I'll do the measurements. Also - if you are hungry or anything, again please let me know.

[ He leaves the notebook within Darius' reach. ]

[He shakes his head in response to the offer. He ate at home.

But after another sip of tea, he holds up his empty cup with a smile.]

[ Nodding, Minato smiles a little back and rises, picking up his measuring tape in preparation.]

I'll try to make it quick.

[ Not too many seem to enjoy the tedious process of getting measured after all. ]

[He shrugs, smiling, as he gets up. He's very used to standing still for long periods of time.]

[ Used to or not, Minato doesn't want to be impolite by making it take longer than it needs to. When he's done, he looks over his measurements to make sure he didn't forget anything before looking up and nodding. ]

[ and he holds out the paper for Darius to write on, if he chooses. ]

[Darius takes it and scribbles out his name with a grin.

Underneath it he writes: HOW LONG?]

[ Minato think for a few moments, doing mental calculations. ]

No more than a week. ... if you write down the house you're living in, I or one of my associates can even deliver them to you, if they're done sooner.

[He nods, smiling again in thanks, and writes down where he's living.]

Thank you, Darius. [ Minato smiles back a little and nods. ] I will do my best to make sure these are done as soon as possible.

[He nods again and scribbles out: IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO IN RETURN?]

What sort of skills do you have? Maybe we can work out a trade.

[He frowns in thought a moment. All he's ever done is work in the military and as an Avox. Eventually, he writes: PHYSICAL LABOR? SERVICE?]

{ Minato nods after reading that. ]

Well, if I ever need help with something, I'll contact you to help for a few hours, if you want. But -- otherwise, don't worry about it, especially not for the first few outfits.

[ It's not like there's a lot else to occupy himself with on this island, anyway... ]
