The simple version is this: the powers that control this place have found it fit to drag individuals across time and space into one area in an attempt to meld individuals into a particular story character - myth, folklore figure, whatever you'd like to label it as - by poking, prodding, tricking, enabling and all other forms of manipulation until the individual and the characters are one in the same.

[Francis recognizes the voice, and watches India speak, but he notices the beach in the background and decides it's probably just going to be best to meet him in person. He's always preferred speaking in-person anyway. So he ignores the feed and starts heading India's way, hoping he will still be there when he gets there.

With luck, he does find India sitting there, watching the ocean. He doesn't call out, mostly because he doesn't want to interrupt anything, but he does make himself easily visible on the beach, walking well into India's peripheral vision.

Though India may not recognize him at first, his hair is stark white and short, not at all like the long, blond locks he usually possesses.]
