[Well, he listens. And thinks over France's words. Sure. Germany may have a thing for weapons, but a bomb that devastated entire cities is just insane! It's still 1945 for him, so he has a bit of an issue in regards of attacks on civillians. And wiping them all out with just one bomb? That's not even something to be proud of in the slightest.

But yeah, Germany listens. Radiation he's heard of, of course. But the research in his own place isn't really far and the true risks still fairly unknown. But it's fairly obvious that the power behind these is much more devastating than any of the chemical weapons ever developed in his place. And yet none of these were ever used. Even now that defeat got clearer with each passing day.

Eventually Germany glances away with a grim face while listening to the older nation, mere moments before pinching the bridge of his nose. When he turns back to speak, his tone is sharp and full of disapproval.]

...they used that sort of weapon twice? On populated areas even... Have you all lost your sense of reason in the future?

[Don't place your disapproval on him, Germany, he's done nothing wrong. And the look he's giving you suggests you'd better get all the facts before accusing him of losing reason.]

Amérique had to win the war with Japan after Pearl Harbor. His president at the time thought it best to use two bombs, one on Hiroshima and one on Nagasaki. These two bombs hit Japan in August. And I am sure that if things had gone differently, many of Amérique's people would have been tried as war criminals.

They have never been used since on populated areas and I assume they never will be again, unless someone is foolish enough to deploy one. Then the rest of us would be out for blood.

W-wait! Why did he have to win the war suddenly? Was that some kind of requirement within these United Nations all of the sudden? No participant in a war fights to loose!

And... What do you mean by... If things had gone differently? No one got punished? He simply got away with it?

[Actually he feels even more that everyone has gone mad in the future now.]

[It's when Germany keeps pushing and pushing and pushing that France can't take anymore. So many questions, so much stubbornness and impatience, so much doubt as to how his words will affect Germany. But Francis finally gives in, his voice turning into a sharp yell intent on halting the line of inquiries for good. He's done with answering, he's done with Germany's aggressiveness and contempt for peace, he's just done]

Putain de merde, Allemagne! The United Nations had nothing to do with the bombs! The UN was started after the war! Amérique had to win against Japan because they were still fighting in the Pacific and you had already surrendered months before!

[And after a few moments of silence, France quickly looks away from the compact, combing his hand through his hair. Despite his attempts to look aloof, it's clear he's still on edge, as his words still have a biting, sharp tone to them, very uncharacteristic of his usual speech.]

Monsieur Truman though it best to use them, to finish the war as quickly as he could with a very powerful weapon. If the bombs had not been as brutally effective as they were, I am sure it would have ended poorly for the American government. I am sure demands would have been made to try the president and those responsible for the bomb's creation as war criminals. But that did not happen because Japan surrendered quickly.

[He pinches the bridge of his nose, a bit roughly, waiting another few moments before speaking.] I am not saying what Alfred's President did was right, or just. Our bosses are never perfect all of the time. Mais, what I am trying to say is that Amérique then went on to replace the League of Nations with the United Nations, and it is still standing some seventy years later.

[Surrendered months before. Yes. He has been aware that the war hasn't been going in his favor for some time now. But being told this diectly is still harsher than Germany would have expected.

America... How could he not hate him now? Him. His allies. Himself...

[France can tell he's going to cut off the connection before he does it. He knows by now not to expect a decent end to a call with Germany, but he doesn't want it to end so soon.]

Non, Allemagne, attends--

[But it's too late, Germany's gone. In anger, he throws his compact across the room, not caring when he hears it crack, and then in frustration and worry he begins pacing about the room. He's not pleased with how this conversation ended and he hates himself for letting it come to this.

He's going to stay in his room the rest of the day.]
